Waterproof, breathable softshell garments are most likely to sweat and get wet inside when used in wet conditions. If the outer layer absorbs water, the garment may lose up to 70% of its breathability. Therefore, for comfort it is essential to keep the water-repellent (DWR) layer on the outside of the jacket. This layer will wear off over time and will need to be renewed with Nikwax SoftShell Proof ™.

Softshell clothing can soak up water just because it is dirty. First of all, try cleaning your softshell garment with Nikwax Tech Wash®, and if your softshell garment is new or has recently been re-impregnated, cleaning alone is enough to enhance Durable Water Repellency (DWR). But if the garment is already worn, it must be refurbished with Nikwax SoftShell Proof ™ after cleaning with Nikwax Tech Wash®.

How to use

To obtain the best effect, remove all non-washable elements before impregnation. Garments must be washed (in a separate wash cycle) with Nikwax Tech Wash® beforehand. The impregnation can be used on wet surfaces - they do not need to be dried before impregnation. Shake well before use.

1. Remove any powder residues from the dispenser.
2. Put a maximum of 2 clean clothes in the washing machine.
3. Pour 100ml on each garment.
4. Set the synthetic wash cycle at 30 ° and low speed.
