Micro Four Thirds BSI Live MOS sensor The newly developed 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds Live MOS sensor features a BSI design that improves readout speed, noise level and greater dynamic range than previous designs. This sensor structure improves noise efficiency by two stops and dynamic range by one stop to improve image quality, especially at higher ISOs. TruePic X processor Compared to previous generation processors, TruePic X offers 3x the processing speed and 120fps sensor scan speed for faster and more responsive photography. The processor also contributes to the wide ISO range and fast continuous shooting rate: Native sensitivity range from ISO 200 to 102,400, expandable to ISO 80. Continuous shooting up to 10 fps with continuous AF/AE and a buffer of 169 raw frames when working with the mechanical shutter. If you're working with a silent electronic shutter, it's possible to shoot at 20fps with full-time AF/AE and a buffer of 108 raw frames. The SH1 and SH2 are high-speed shutter-free shooting modes, offering up to 120 fps without AF/AE SH1 and 50 fps with AF/AE SH2. Pro Capture mode starts recording before the shutter is released; can record at 120 fps with fixed focus or 50 fps with continuous AF, this mode starts recording when the shutter button is pressed halfway and then stops when the button is pressed all the way down. In this mode, up to 70 additional frames can be recorded as protection when an action occurs just before the shutter button is pressed. Cross Quad Pixel AF and AI detection Uniquely designed, the sensor's phase detection AF uses a cross-quad-pixel system that effectively divides each pixel into four sub-pixels to allow the cross-sensor to work and focus better in difficult lighting conditions. The focus system has 1053 individual points that completely cover the sensor and operates at speeds of up to 120 frames per second to accommodate almost all recording modes. Using the Cross Quad Pixel AF structure, color and contrast information from the sensor can also be used to create a detailed image depth map for more accurate subject detection and tracking. Using AI, this focus system can automatically detect different types of subjects such as cars, motorcycles, airplanes, helicopters, trains, birds, dogs, cats and people, as well as faces and eyes. And compared to previous generations of this focus system, improved processing now focuses 2x more accurately and 3x faster. Image stabilization and computer photography 5-axis image stabilization In-body 5-axis image stabilization compensates for up to 8 stops of camera shake, allowing significantly faster shutter speeds when shooting handheld. This advanced sensor shift system compensates for 7 reps of camera shake with the body alone, with additional stops when certain IS-capable lenses are attached. Handheld Assist relies on this stabilization technology to provide more stable framing, which is especially useful when working with longer focal length lenses.
